Tawapata discovered in the 10th century by our tīpuna, Tamatea-Ariki-Nui, Ruawharo and Tūpai, navigators of the pacific, origins of our whakapapa here in Tawapata, derived from Hawaiiki, retained by our people to this day, leading how business is done with Māori whenua by incorporation in 1954.
Today we have the largest farm in Mahia, with traditional farming of Cattle, Sheep and Wool, including an unique business relationship with Rocket Lab.
Our role as an incorporation is to sustain the natural taonga that is the taiao of Tawapata South and Waikawa Island, for the betterment of the whenua, moana, taonga and our people.
