MPI representative Marcus Oliverira and MPI team members were granted access to Waikawa on the 7th – 9th of August 2023, for the purpose of continued Cape Tulip eradication.

Marcus met with Peter Wilkins on Waikawa. Attached is a photo report of the site visit on 13th June 2023, the MPI team found and treated a total of 162 plants white points are plants, red tracks is where the MPI team grid searched and tracked. The table shows plants found over the years. Total plants from 2016-2022 treated 1,647, by way of 4 visits per season to prevent plants growing to produce flowers/seeds. These plants are poisonous to both humans and sheep.
